Reforested areas of the Atlantic Forest have less biodiversity than native ones, research shows

Researchers from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq) at USP, in Piracicaba, analyzed information from environmental restoration areas in the Atlantic Forest and found that the process uses less than 8% of the tree flora existing in the original. This means that the recovered area has fewer species. The study helps guide work and improve the recovery of degraded areas of the Forest.

'Earth Charter' talks about the results achieved at COP15 on biodiversity

In Carta da Terra, published this week by Earth News, Lourival Sant'Anna talks about her conversation with Bráulio Dias, representative of the transitional government at COP15 on Biodiversity in Montreal, professor in the Department of Ecology at UnB (University of Brasília), director of the Scientific Panel for the Amazon and secretary of the UN Biodiversity Convention between 2012 and 2017. He reports that, in the chat, the professor made a very positive assessment of the Summit results and stated that Brazil played a central role in preventing the meeting of 195 countries ended without an agreement.
