The European Union (EU) launched on Sunday (1) the first phase of its system to charge fees for CO2 emissions on goods imported by the bloc's countries. The first initiative of its kind in the world, it was approved in April this year, and attempts to prevent more polluting foreign products from harming its transition to a net-zero economy.
