A new initiative called Chat2024 allows US voters to chat with presidential candidates through an AI chatbot. The chatbot was created by Delphi, an AI voice cloning company, with the goal of "increasing the number of informed voters in the US" and "helping candidates better connect with and understand their constituents." Understand the proposal.
Chat2024 is based on a large dataset of candidates' interviews, speeches, and YouTube videos. Chatbot responses are generated by an AI language model and are based on candidates' positions in these sources. Answers also include citations so users can verify the information for themselves.
Users can ask questions of an individual candidate or compare two candidates against each other. For example, a user might ask Donald Trump about January 6th, the thorny topic of the Capitol invasion, or Joe Biden if he is too old to run for president.
Users can also ask the two most recent presidents how they copedariam with the climate crisis.
“Chat2024 aims to cut through the noise by offering a space where you can gain insights into where a candidate stands on a multitude of issues from their own direct sources,” said Dara Ladjevardian, co-founder of Delphi.
“For a democracy to truly prosper, it is essential that voters are well informed about their choices,” he concluded.
Chat2024 is available on website from Delphi for free.
