Enem-MG Platform: AI boosts student preparation for the exam

A artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly present in different sectors of society, and the education is no exception. In Minas Gerais, the State Government, through Secretaria State of Education (SEE/MG), is using AI to boost the preparation of public school students for the National High School Exam (Enem).

One of the innovative tools used is the platform Enem-MG, developed by the publisher Estudos Play. The platform offers several resources to help students, such as:

  • Automated correction of handwritten essays: students can simply photograph their essays and submit them via the app. The AI evaluates the texts and provides detailed performance reports by competence, as well as suggestions for improvement in grammatical aspects, cohesion, coherence and expansion of repertoire.
  • Simulations: the platform offers simulations with questions based on Enem and the Basic Education Assessment System (Saeb).
  • Auctions: Live classes focused on reviewing exam content are broadcast dailyariamind on the Youtube channels of Estudos Play and Secretaria of Education, as well as in the multiprogramming of Rede Minas.
  • Enem Marathon: series of live teleclasses focused on reviewing exam content.
  • Diagnostic Tools: allow personalized monitoring of student performance.
Positive results

The Enem-MG platform is already available to more than 275 thousand users from the state network, including students in the 3rd year of high school, 3rd period of Education for Youth and Adults (EJA), teachers and managers.

In May, the platform recorded a total of almost 200 thousand hits and, in June, this number rose to 225 thousand, indicating an increase of around 13%.

Students who are already using the platform report positive. Bianca Nolasco, 17 years old, student at Escola Estadual Presidente Itamar Franco, in Santa Luzia, praises the accessibility and usefulness of the platform. “Previously, resources like this were only available to those who could pay for courses. Now, we can constantly practice writing essays and identify our areas of greatest difficulty, which is very useful for our preparation,” she comments.

Reducing inequality

The Enem-MG platform also contributes to reduce inequality between students, since many families do not have the resources to invest equally in family education. Furthermore, it is expected that, in the future, all high school students will have access to the platform.

Conclusion

The Enem-MG platform is an example of how artificial intelligence can be used to improve public education. The tool offers students from the Minas Gerais state network a series of resources that can help in their preparation for the Enem, in addition to contributing to reducing inequality between students.
