Meta's metaverse, Horizon Worlds, has launched a new game feature called "quests" for its users, which allows them to complete missions and receive virtual rewards. By gradually rolling out this feature to more players in the coming weeks, Meta hopes to increase user engagement and retention on the platform.
The introduction of missions could be a way to keep users more engaged and exploring different worlds on the platform, which has been a challenge for the company.
With expansion to web and mobile devices planned for this year, missions can become appealing to a wider audience, making mission experiences Horizon worlds more attractive.
Recently, Meta announced plans to make 20 new experiences available on Horizon, created by third-party studios, in addition to allowing access to the platform for users between 13 and 17 years old. However, the expansion project for teenagers was questionated by senators, who claim that the platform is not suitable for young people, due to the presence of advertisements for toxic products, data collection and exposure to abusive behavior.
Despite the challenges, Meta continues to invest in expanding Horizon Worlds and new ways to engage its users. With the launch of missions, the company hopes to increase player engagement and encourage exploration of different virtual worlds on the platform.
