Yves Saint Laurent wants to sell makeup for avatars in the metaverse, indicates patent application

It's not new that the fashion market is looking to the metaverse to expand its business. This week, more specifically on the 12th, it was the turn of luxury fashion and beauty brand Yves Saint Laurent to file trademark applications for NFT and metaverse with its name and logo in the United States. The information was released by the licensed trademark attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mike Kondoudis.

According to the registration application, the French brand wants to launch non-fungible tokens for digital works, videos, audio and text related to beauty and skincare. Another curious detail about YSL's interest in the metaverse is the fact that the brand wants to launch beauty and hair products for the metaverse. Anyone who loves makeup, for example, could buy a product for their avatar.

In addition to these unusual initiatives for our time, the French brand also plans to open virtual stores with cosmetics, perfumearia and other beauty products.

It is worth noting that Yves Saint Laurent is part of the luxury fashion conglomerate Kering, which also manages Gucci. Gucci, unlike YSL, has been exploring web3 for a while now. The brand is present on platforms such as Roblox and The Sandbox, in addition to accepting payment and virtual currencies.

With the action, the French brand targets the young audience and expands its marketing strategies beyond the physical boundaries of the business.
