“Victims of the enemy’s hatred”

The new incursion by pro-Ukrainian forces into Russian territory took place just hours after an air strike against the central region of Ukraine.

The Russian army confirmed night attacks against Ukrainian military air bases and highlighted that the bombings hit “command posts, radar stations and equipment”, but did not reveal the location of the targets.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky blamed Russia for the attack in Dnipro and said five children were injured in the incident.

Russia has intensified bombings against Ukraine in recent weeks, at the same time as incursions by Kiev troops into Russian territory have increased.

Two dead in Kharkiv region

Ukraine has never claimed the attacks on Russian soil, although presidential adviser Mikhailo Podoliak declared on Sunday that the situation in the border areas should be considered “as the future of Russia”.

As proof that fighting has intensified in this region, Ukrainian authorities reported that two women died this Sunday due to Russian fire in the city of Vovchansk, close to the border.

“The city of Vovchansk was bombed by the Russians again,” declared the prosecutor's office for the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine. “Enemy attacks caused the deaths of two civilian women, aged 62 and 74.”

On the Russian side, Ukrainian shelling on Saturday killed two people in Belgorod, Governor Viatcheslav Gladkov said.

Border municipalities in Belgorod were targets of unprecedented attacks, with a total of seven deaths and around 30 injuries during the week.

Gladkov on Sunday called on residents of bombed areas to leave their homes.

“I ask the inhabitants of the bombed areas, in particular the residents of the Shebekino district, to follow the instructions of the authorities and temporarily abandonariamind their homes”, declared the governor.
