New AI Features for Photoshop, such as automatic removal of background distractions and a generative AI model Firefly more powerful are the biggest announcements, with Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro also getting new features that can help speed up traditionally time-consuming design tasks.

For example, a new “Distraction Removal” has been added to the tool Remove. Remove already works similarly to the Magic Eraser feature in Google on Pixel phones, allowing users to quickly remove unwanted objects from their images by brushing over them. The new Distraction Removal feature is more like Magic Eraser, automatically identifying common distractions for you, like people, wires, and cables, and removing them with a single click.

Distraction Removal is available now in Photoshop’s desktop and web apps, with “more to come later,” according to Adobe. Photoshop users can now also choose whether the Remove tool uses generative AI — specifically Adobe’s Firefly image model — or non-generative AI technology, with a third option that automatically selects which technology to use “based on the image and scene” to produce the best results.

O Generative Fill, Generative Expansion, Generate Similar and the tools Generate Fund Photoshop's new features are now generally available and have been updated with the latest Firefly Image 3 model, which was released in beta in April. Adobe says this update improves variety and quality fotorrealistic of the generated results and understands complex prompts better than the previous model. The Photoshop web app also has a new AI feature that makes editing easier by automatically selecting all objects in an image.

Adobe Illustrator is being updated with a new feature “Objects in Path” that allows users to attach, arrange, and move objects along any path shape, giving designers more flexibility when aligning areas of their work. The tool mockup to organize designs in a 3D model is also now widely available, and the feature Image Trace The tool that converts raster images (JPEG, PNG, PSD, etc.) into scalable vectors has also been improved. Adobe claims that it now creates “sharper vector output with cleaner lines that are more accurate to the original image.”

The Generative Stretch tool that was first introduced in Photoshop is now generally available for InDesign, allowing users to stretch images to fit any layout they desire. And Adobe’s new Firefly AI video template has introduced a new Generative Stretch feature to Premiere Pro. It’s in beta for now, but the video template will likely be used as the basis for other features across all of Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps over the next year.
