UK opposition leader Keir Starmer promepromote a major review of the Brexit agreement if Labor wins the next election in 2024.
Starmer, in an interview with the Financial Times newspaper (🇬🇧🚥), said he owes it to his children to rebuild relations with the EU.
The Labor leader said he would promote a closer trading relationship with Brussels and a new partnership with businesses, with the aim of boosting Britain's economic growth.
Britain's Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the EU, negotiated by former prime minister Boris Johnson, is due to be reviewed in 2025 and Starmer told the FT he sees this as an "important" time to restart relations.
Recent opinion polls show (🇬🇧) that the vast majority of British people consider it a mistake for the country to leave the European Union.
