Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky on Wednesday denied any involvement of his country in an alleged assassination attempt against his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, which Kemlin said would be carried out using drones that were shot down in Moscow.
“We do not attack Putin. That will be a task for the courts. We are fighting on our territory, we are defending our villages and cities,” Zelensky said at a press conference in Helsinki, the Finnish capital, after participating in a summit with the leaders of the Nordic countries.
Before the Ukrainian president's statements, Mikhailo Podolyak, advisor to the presidency, had already said:
“Ukraine has nothing to do with the drone strikes against the Kremlin. Ukraine does not attack the Kremlin because, to begin with, this does not solve any military problem,” he added.
“The information presented by Russia should be considered only as an attempt to prepare a context that could serve as an excuse for a large-scale terrorist attack in Ukraine,” Podolyak said.
An attack on the Kremlin “incitesaria Russia to even more radical actions against our civilian population,” added Presidential advisor Volodimir Zelensky.
