Amazônia Fund Alliance will be launched during the Cannes film festival, with the presence of indigenous people

Brazilian indigenous leaders and politicians were invited and should be present at the fund's launch ceremony, including federal deputy Célia for the defense of indigenous peoples and the Amazon.

A Amazonia Fund Alliance supports reforestation projects, preservation of rivers and springs and reduction of carbon emissions in the forest region, including businesspeople, foundations, international brands and artists of global prominence in the project.

According to data released by Science magazine, deforestation in the Amazon exceeded the mark of 10 thousand square kilometers per year, an area ten times greater than that recorded a decade ago.

In an attempt to stop the destruction, in the first year, the program intends to raise US$5 million (approximately R$25 million), through dinners, auctions (held in Cannes), concerts and social events that will be held in Brazil and also in other parts of the world.

In September, a charity gala is planned at the Venice Film Festival, in Italy, also to raise funds
