The origin of the chaos lies in a software update from CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company, which affected several customers, including several airlines. However, while other airlines were able to quickly overcome problems, Delta faced persistent difficulties.
A Microsoft claims to have offered immediate and free assistance to Delta, but the airline declined the assistance, opting to use services from other technology providers. The technology giant also claims that Delta did not respond to attempts to contact its CEO, Satya Nadella.
Delta, in turn, blames Microsoft and CrowdStrike, claiming massive investments in technology in recent years. The airline hired a renowned lawyer to seek compensation from both companies.
