The women's football team reached the milestone of 2,3 million followers on social media. But even before reaching the number, the team was already the most followed in the world. Check the ranking.
A Women's Football World Cup It hasn't even started yet and the teams are already recording significant numbers of audience, visibility and public presence in the stadiums. On social media, growth was no different.
Since the beginning of the year, the official profiles of women's football clubs on Twitter and Instagram saw a significant increase in engagement, with likes, comments and shares. Last Thursday (20), for example, the Brazilian women's team, led by technical Pia Sundhage, reached the 2,3 million mark on Instagram.

Despite the growth in the digital presence of women's football, the gap between the profiles of the men's teams is still noticeable. In Brazil, for example, the group, led byariamind for Ramon Menezes, have 16,2 million followers on Instagram. Did you do the math? It is seven times more than the women's team.
When we put the magnifying glass on Brazilian clubs, the disparity in numbers remains alarming. O Corinthians Club, for example, has the women's team with the most followers on Brazilian soil (1,3 million followers). However, when compared to the male profile, which has 9,4 million followers, there is a clear difference in reach and digital engagement.
This is a model that is repeated in all Brazilian clubs: football is still a sport with many inequalities, whether on or off the field.
