EU calls on tech giants to draw up plans to combat deepfakes amid election concerns
The European Union (EU) is calling out eight major technology companies, including Google, Facebook and X, to detail their methods of identifying and combating deepfakes amid fears about the use of this technology to influence elections. For the first time in the world, these companies will be required to follow new laws on artificial intelligence (AI) to eradicate fake videos, images and audio.
