Former American President Donald Trump attended his first court hearing in New York this Tuesday (4), in the historic moment in which he became a defendant for allegedly paying bribes in exchange for the silence of a porn actress before the 2016 presidential elections. Without showing any reaction, Trump said a few words, including the phrase "I'm not guilty." The judge in the case reported that the Republican's trial could begin in January 2024.
After hearing the accusations against him, Donald Trump left the building without making a statement, straight to the airport where he left for a campaign agenda. The former president who enters US history as the first to be criminally accused, wants to become US president again, will explore the thesis that he is politically persecuted toariar even more votes.
Trump spent two hours in a Manhattan courtroom, where the 34 charges against him in the case were reported. The Manhattan criminal court released the former president without imposing conditions.
The former president's fingerprints were registered by the courts, but he was not photographed when he entered the court – that classic photo of defendants that in the USA is called a “mugshot”. Trump was also not handcuffed.
