Yanomami Land goes 33 days without records of illegal mining alerts

The Federal Police (PF) reported, this Tuesday (20), that it has not identified alerts of illegal mining in the Yanomami Indigenous Land for more than 30 days. The last identification was on May 6, by satellite systems that monitor the region, and occurred less than three months after the beginning of Operation Liberation activities, launched in February, to curb illegal mining of indigenous land.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change confirmed the death of 4 miners within the Yanomami Indigenous Land, on Sunday night (30). They would have reacted to an action by agents from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). Federal base on Yanomami land is attacked by miners

Ibama reported on Thursday night (23) that the federal base located in the Palimiú village, in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima, suffered attacks from miners in the early hours of Wednesday (22). After the attack, Ibama asked the Federal Police (PF) to send security reinforcements to the site. There was a shootout between police and miners. One was injured and arrested.

Indigenous vaccination: 20 thousand doses against covid-19 will be sent to Yanomami land
