Partnership of giants: Coca-Cola invests US$1,1 billion in cloud and AI services Microsoft

A Microsoft said, this Tuesday (23), that Coca-Cola signed a five-year contract worth US$1,1 billion to use its cloud computing services and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to the agreement, Microsoft and Coca-Cola will “jointly experiment” with Azure OpenAI. This service uses technology from the startup supported by Microsoft and creator of ChatGPT, OpenAI, to enable customers to build chatbots and other AI services that run on the company's Azure cloud computing platform Microsoft.

Coca-Cola had signed a five year contract worth US$250 million to use the company's cloud and business software Microsoft.

The two companies said Coca-Cola would test Coca-Cola's offerings. Copilot da Microsoft to see how the tools improve the beverage maker's productivity. Copilot is an AI assistant that can help summarize lengthy email discussions and create slide-based business presentations, among its many functions.

The announced agreement also includes the expansion of Coca-Cola's use of other conventional Coca-Cola software Microsoft, such as Dynamics 365, used by sales professionals and a competitor to Salesforce (CRM.N).

A Microsoft did not specify the financial breakdown of Coca-Cola's $1,1 billion contract in terms of the value attributable to AI services versus traditional cloud software.
