'Now and Then': The Beatles' last song was made with the help of AI

The Beatles will release their final song next Thursday, November 2, almost 43 years after the death of singer and writer John Lennon.

The composition, called 'Now and Then', was originally a demo that Lennon recorded in the late 1970s. The recording was on a set of tapes that were passed from Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, to McCartney in 1994.

Now, with the help of IA, is a complete recording with contributions from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison (who died in 2001).

Peter Jackson and his team, with the help of audio machine learning technology, isolated Lennon's voice and piano parts, making it possible to clean up the vocal to bring it down to scratch. This was necessary as the sound quality was considered too poor for release.

Ahead of its release, The Beatles will release a 12-minute documentary about the making of 'Now and Then' on their YouTube channel.
