OpenAI launches GPT Store for users to buy and sell custom chatbots

A OpenAI launched, on Wednesday (10), its GPT Store: a store where paid users of ChatGPT can buy and sell specialized chatbot agents based on the company's language models.

The company, whose popular product ChatGPT helped drive the boom in artificial intelligence (IA), already offers personalized bots through its paid service ChatGPT Plus. The new store will allow users to offer and monetize a wider range of tools.

Through the new models, chatbot agents can be developed with their own personalities or themes, including models for salt negotiationarial, creating lesson plans and developing recipes. 

The store was compared with the Apple App Store Apple, promoting new AI developments to a wider range of users. A Meta offers chatbots with different personalities in a similar offering.

It's not yet clear if and how creators will be paid for products listed on the store. In an email to platform developers last week, the OpenAI told users to ensure their chatbots meet usage policies and GPT brand guidelines. The company highlighted several products already offered in a press release accompanying the launch, including products from design app Canva and hiking app AllTrails.

During the inaugural developer demo, Sam AltmanCEO of OpenAI, offered to cover legal costs for developers who may run afoul of the law copyright when creating products based on technology ChatGPT e OpenAI.

 Herself - Host OpenAI has been sued multiple times for alleged copyright infringement for using protected text to train its large language models.
