Despite the cold and snow forecast, the Gauchos are not hiding in any place. The special half-century edition of Gramado Film Festival bring expoeBefore the seventh Brazilian art back to the red carpet, after two years of pandemic, a period in which films and awards were broadcast over the internet.

The event started on August 12th and ends this Saturday (20th). The awards for feature and short films will be broadcast online and on Canal Brasil, at 21pm.
Brazilian cinema
From more than a thousand short and feature film submissions, the festival curators selected 50 film productions for competition. Check out the complete list of works at Quero Cinema.
Actress Dira Paes, who plays Filó in Pantanal and has 43 films to her credit, composed the exhibition's team of curators this year.
From Brazilian cinema, works were selected that mainly debate social, political and violence-related issues that are currently latent.
The film “Mars One” stood out among the exhibition's screenings, being well received by critics and the public who gave it a standing ovation after the session. The name comes from a space program launched in 2012, but the story is about a boy who travels on his dream of getting ahead. In an interview with Quando Cinema, director Gabriel Martins says that the film comes to raise the importance of not forgetting affection and “looking at each other”. The film stars actor Cauã Reimond. “Pedro’s journey”, by Laís Bodanzky, was later included in the exhibition selection.

Red carpet
The opening ceremony, with a red carpet and musical performance, was attended by Brazilian artists such as Jessica Ellen, Otavio Muller, Matheus Nachtergaele, Andre Abujamra Barbara Paz and Zeca Camargo. The initial awards ceremony was open to the public and broadcast on the internet and television, on TVE and Canal Brasil. (G1)
In the main honors session on Friday, the actress and resident of Gramado, Araci Esteves, received the City of Gramado Trophy, alongside friends and family. Excited, she declared that the festival is a “party of exchanges, knowledge, and a space for discussion and demands."
History of the festival
Since its creation in 1973, the Gramado Festival has been responsible for maintaining a constant cultural movement in Serra Gaúcha, of meetings and debates between students, artists, and film and culture makers. Since 2014, the Festival has been managed by a local authority and is part of the public programming of the municipality of Gramado.
