Death in Colorado

At least five people died and 18 were injured in a shooting at an LGBTQIA+ bar in Colorado, in the western region of the United States. According to police, the shooting occurred around midnight at Club Q. A suspect was detained and was being treated for injuries following the attack, according to Colorado Springs City Lieutenant Pamela Castro at a press conference.

The police officer said officers located the suspect inside the bar. Club Q said it is “devastated by the senseless attack on our community”. “We are grateful for the quick responses of the heroic customers who subdued the shooter and put an end to this hateful attack,” the bar posted on its Facebook page. Oscar

Actor Michael J. Fox, protagonist of the film “Back to the Future”, received an honorary Oscar on Saturday for his campaign to raise funds for research into Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disease that has affected the actor for decades.

Fox received the award for his humanitarian work at a gala ceremony in Los Angeles, attended by major movie stars. “You’re making me tremble, stop it,” joked Fox as he received a standing ovation from the audience. He said this is a “totally unexpected honor.”

In 1991, at the age of 29, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and doctors said he would have a 10-year career due to the disease, which affects motor functions. Fox retired from acting in 2020. In recent months, he suffered multiple fractures and injuries from falls and on Saturday was able to walk to the stage, but had to ask his wife, Tracy Pollan, for help to carry the award. (With AFP)

Trump back on Twitter

The billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, reinstated Donald Trump's account on the social network on Saturday, after more than 15 million users (51,8% of the total) voted in favor of reinstating the former American president's account.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be readmitted”, tweeted Musk in reference to the former president's account, which was banned last year after his supporters invaded the Capitol, the seat of the Legislature in Washington, DC. Vaccine and mask at bus terminals in SP

The City of São Paulo, through the Municipal Health Department, announced that, starting next Monday (21), it will begin a new campaign to raise awareness among the population about the importance of using masks against Covid-19.

The masks will be distributed at bus terminals, where vaccination tents will also be installed. The measure was taken by the city hall due to the increase in cases of the disease in recent weeks. During the campaign, 1 million masks will be distributed.
