Baldwin and Halyna Hutchins’ family reach agreement on filming “Rust”

Actor Alec Baldwin said this Wednesday (5) that he has reached an agreement with the family of Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography who was accidentally killed on the set of 'Rust' last year. She was shot and the family was fighting in court for compensation for the tragedy.

“We are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil lawsuit filed on behalf of the family of director of photography Halyna Hutchins. Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained a specific desire to do what is best for Halyna's son. We are grateful for everyone who contributed to resolving this tragic and heartbreaking situation,” Baldwin said in an Instagram post.

As part of the deal, Hutchins will become executive producer of Rust. Recordings will resume in January 2023. (Variety*)

Remember the case

In October 2021, Halyna hutchins worked as director of photography on the set of the film Rust when the actor Alec Baldwin accidentally fired a gun – the device was loaded with live ammunition. Hutchins was hit and did not survive. Another director was also injured but survived.

Earlier this year, Hutchins' family had filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and other members of the set, alleging that the director of photography's death was caused by recklessness and cost-cutting. (Variety*)
