Bomb alert on Ryanair flight between Greece and Poland

A bomb alert on a commercial flight between Poland and Greece forced Greek authorities to "escort" the aircraft to the ground. But it was all just a false attack.

On Sunday night (22), the Greek police stated that no explosives were found on the plane, a Boeing 737 that landed at Athens International Airport shortly before 13 pm Brasília time.

Greek warplanes were assigned to escort a Ryanair flight on the Poland – Greece route, carrying more than 190 people on board. A bomb alert was reported, according to a Defense Ministry source.

The plane landed at Athens International Airport and underwent inspection. Experts did not find any explosives.

“The passengers have disembarked and are undergoing control,” said Greek police spokeswoman Constantia Dimoglidou.

Piotr Adamczyk, an employee at Katowice airport, said he received a warning call as the plane flew over Slovakia.

“After the plane took off, there was a call to the airport information center that pointed to the possible presence of an explosive on board,” he told AFP. “We contacted air traffic control, who subsequently contacted the pilotyou."
