ANALYSIS: a cowardly attack against a journalist. And away from the cameras, what are these people capable of?

Everything premeditated. To then try to spread fake news against Vera and victimize herself.

Surprising? No. This is a modus operandi in force in Brazil for some time, especially after Bolsonaro's election at the end of 2018.

Intimidating, attacking, threatening, mocking and lying. And, most of the time, count on impunity. Society seems numb to the severity of this phenomenon. This is an attack against democracy, against our freedoms.

This aggression against the journalist is part of a growing trend in political violence in Brazil. Which should get worse in the coming weeks.

If someone, like this individual, attacks a person in this way on camera and in public, it's not hard to imagine what could happen when there are no witnesses.

The attack by a Bolsonaro deputy against journalist Vera Magalhães

Bolsonaro deputy Douglas Garcia (Republicans) attacked journalist Vera Magalhães with the same words as President Jair Bolsonaro, who said in the TV Band debate that Vera was “a disgrace to journalism”.
