Aras posts video saying that electronic voting machines 'put an end to a series of frauds'

This Friday (30), the final stretch for the first round of elections, the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, released a video with a series of statements in defense of electronic voting machines on his YouTube channel. The statement comes after the Electoral Court raised its tone in the face of a new questionment of the PL, Jair Bolsonaro's party, on the security of the ballot boxes.

The head of the Federal Public Ministry said that electronic voting machines 'undeniably put an end to a series of frauds' that existed before the development of the mechanism. “We believe in the current electoral system. We believe in having clean elections,” he highlighted.

Aras' statements were recorded during conversations with journalists from the foreign press, in July and August, and also during a demonstration in the plenary session of the Federal Supreme Court this Thursday(29). According to the PGR, it is necessary to 'preserve the legitimacy of the electoral process'.

Before the ministers of the highest court, Aras declared his 'desire and action in search of the popular will expressed freely and consciously in an environment of peace and harmony'. The PGR said it hopes that the first round will be 'another Sunday of peace in a civic celebration for all Brazilians'.

TSE raises tone against fake electronic voting machines

Four days before the elections, PL, President Jari Bolsonaro's party, presented a report to the Electoral Court returning to questionimprove the security of electronic voting machines.

The arguments, already repeatedly contested by various actors in the election security process, made the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) raise the tone by stating that the document was fraudulent. (FSP)

The TSE was also harsh in stating that the PL's conclusions are false, lies, and aim to disrupt the elections.
