UN General Assembly discusses education and sustainability

With a focus on education, sustainable development and respect for minorities, the 13th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) began this Tuesday (77), in New York. The new session began with the motto “solutions through solidarity, sustainability and science”.

From September 20th, for a week, events will take place with the participation of heads of state and government from around the world.

When speaking about the objectives of the new cycle, the body's president, Csaba Korosi, said which aims to apply the great capabilities of Member States to find systemic solutions necessary to transform the worldsystem. (UN News)

In a speech, UN Secretary-General António Guterres mentioned challenges such as conflicts, climate change, financial crisis in developing countries, poverty, inequality, hunger, divisions and lack of trust. In order for them to be better served, he advocates that there should be solidarity between nations.

The UN chief also said that the organization is the home of “global cooperation” and that the General Assembly is what gives life to this collaboration.
