Bolsonarista who set up an explosive in Brasília was charged with terrorism and did not act alone

Bolsonaro supporter George Washington de Oliveira Sousa, 54, was charged with terrorism, after confessing to having assembled an explosive device that was installed in a fuel truck, near Brasília Airport, last Saturday (24). The Civil Police are investigating who the other participants in the crime are, and say they have already identified at least one of them.

In a statement to the police, the suspect said the attack was planned by members of acts in favor of the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), which take place at the Army headquarters, in Brasilia. He further stated that the installation of bomb had the objective of “starting chaos” and intended to achieve the decree of state of siege in the country – when there are restrictions on rights and the actions of the Legislature and Judiciary.

“There are other people involved who will be identified and arrested”, said the general director of the DF Civil Police, delegate Robson Cândido, at a press conference. “He wanted, his group, would like to draw attention, precisely to go to the airport to explode this device there to cause a disturbance within our city with their ideological, political objective”, he said.

According to the police, the man who confessed to setting up an explosive on Estrada Parque Aeroporto, near the International Airport of Brasilia, is a 54-year-old businessman who traveled from Pará to Brasília to participate in the demonstrations in support of the president Jair Bolsonaro. The explosive device was found on the edge of the road, on the lawn of a median.

According to Cândido, there was an attempt to activate the bomb, but the artifact did not explode. For him, the businessman wanted to create “chaos”. “He is part of this movement to support the current president and is imbued with this mission, which they say is ideological. This is an act that never existed in Brasília. If this material entered the airport it would be a tragedy never seen before. Their intention was to explode (the bomb) and cause this riot based on this ideology”, said the delegate.

The Minister of Justice, Anderson Towers, said he called the Federal Police to participate in the investigation.

The future government Minister of Justice Squid, Flavio Dino, also spoke out and praised the police for the operation:
