Caixa suspends Auxílio Brasil consignee for 24 hours after alert from TCU

“Caixa informs that there is no forecast for the release of financial amounts relating to these requests, within the next 24 hours, automatically complying with the recommended prudence”, highlighted the financial institution this Tuesday (25).

The day before, the minister of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) Aroldo Cedraz gave 24 hours for the bank to explain the impact of the Auxílio Brasil loan on the risk analysis and possible losses with the credit line. In an order, Cedraz partially accepted a representation from the Public Ministry of Accounts and asked for clarification.

Auxílio Brasil and consigned loans: a relationship that deserves warning!

Since the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) allowed payroll loans for Auxílio Brasil beneficiaries, there has been a rush of families to Caixa Econômica Federal to request the amounts. Last week, an explosion of access to Caixa Econômica's service channels forced the bank to suspend payroll loans until 7am on Monday (24). Acquiring higher interest rates compared to the market average, Brazilians do not even know how they will pay the debt. Idec has already registered more than 2 thousand complaints, including tying and bank harassment.

When asking Caixa for explanations, the TCU minister suggested that the bank suspend the granting of Auxílio Brasil loans until the body finishes analyzing the financial institution's documents.

In a note, the bank informed that the sending of responses “will be fully completed within the established period” of 24 hours.

Among the documents that Caixa must forward to the TCU are opinions, technical notes, resolutions and collegiate decisions that deal with pricing, concession criteria, interest rates, profitability, expected default, approval of the credit line relating to payroll-deductible credit for beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil and risk management associated with the operation.
