Candidate for the government of Pernambuco decides not to vote after the death of her husband

Businessman Fernando Lucena, husband of the candidate for the Pernambuco government, Raquel Lyra (PSDB), passed away this Sunday morning, the 2nd. According to a note published on the candidate's profiles on social media, the reason for her death was a sudden illness. Faced with the loss, the candidate decided that she will not vote this Sunday.

Other politicians, such as the mayor of Caruaru, Rodrigo Pinheiro (PSDB), from the tucana's hometown, and the candidate for governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), paid condolences to Raquel.

“Raquel Lyra and her family are grateful for the expressions of solidarity they have been receiving and count on everyone’s understanding at this difficult time,” said a statement released by the candidate.

The leader of the polls for the government of Pernambuco, Marília Arraes, expressed her solidarity with the death of her rival's husband. “My family and I, at this moment, are deeply saddened by this tragic and unexpected event. May faith in God and true love support you, Raquel, João, Fernando and the whole family, in this moment of so much pain and give you the strength you need to face it. My sincere condolences,” she said in a note.
