Who is Carlos Fávaro?

Senator for the state of Mato Grosso since 2020, Carlos Favaro He was one of the coordinators of the agricultural technical group during the transition period.

  • Born in 1969 in Paraná and moved to Mato Grosso in 1986;
  • He was president of the Association of Soy and Corn Producers of Mato Grosso in 2012 and 2013 and re-elected in 2014, but left the position 6 months later to run for election in the state government;
  • In 2015, he assumed the role of vice-governor of Mato Grosso, under Pedro Taques. He was also State Secretary for the Environment between April 2016 and December 2017;
  • In 2018, he resigned as lieutenant governor and ran for the Senate, but came in third place.
  • In April 2020, he took up a seat in the Senate after the impeachment of judge Selma Arruda, who won the Senate race in 2018, but had her mandate revoked by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for abuse of economic power and slush funds in the elections.
  • At the end of 2020, he won the supplementary election and was sworn into the Senate.
