Cristina Kirchner case: couple has preventive detention ordered

Brazilian Fernando Montiel and his girlfriend, Brenda Uliarte, were placed in preventive detention. The two will face justice for attempted murder against the vice-president of Argentina.

Judge María Eugenia Capuchetti yesterday ordered preventive detention of the Brazilian accused of trying to kill the vice-president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner, and her girlfriend. Fernando Montiel and Brenda Uliarte have been arrested since the beginning of the month. He was arrested shortly after the attempted murder, on September 1, and she was arrested three days later at a train station in Palermo. The two will also have to pay 100 pesos (around R$3,6 million) as bail.
