With Fenômeno in the lead, Cruzeiro returns to the football elite

After 3 years away from class A in Brazilian football, Cruzeiro resurfaced in a game against Vasco, at Mineirão, with a 3-0 victory.

Former player Ronaldo Nazário, or Fenômeno, took over Cruzeiro as majority shareholder and sees the team as a patient in the ICU, as the team has a debt of more than R$1 billion. In eight months of management, what seemed unfeasible happens. With salaries up to date, accounts balanced and a tough coach, the team from Minas Gerais guarantees access to the elite and is once again among the greats of Brazilian football.

“We worked hard to deserve this, tonight was really special. Our players are to be congratulated, along with the coaching staff and my entire administrative team,” said Ronaldo. “But it is to congratulate mainly the fans, who suffered almost three years (…) Today is the day of glory. Look what a beautiful thing!"
