A Barcelona judge on Friday ordered the preventive detention without bail of Brazilian defender Daniel Alves for an alleged sexual assault against a woman in a nightclub in the city at the end of December, the court said.

“The magistrate decided to preventive detention without bail,” announced the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia in a brief note, hours after the player was arrested in connection with the case.
