Independence Day: What did the presidential candidates say on Twitter?

Jair Bolsonaro (PL)

This September 7th, before and after the street protests, President Jair Bolsonaro went to Twitter 6 times – at the time of this publication.

A video with fireworks explosions and the Independence anthem in the background opened the series of tweets from the candidate for re-election. Afterwards, Bolsonaro announced to his followers the link to your Telegram channel with “updates of the day”.

“Our goal? Eternal freedom”, said Bolsonaro’s voice in the background of a video with images of military parades held across the country. In the narration, he also thanks God for having received “a second life” and the “mission to command the country”.

In the evening, at 19:42 pm, the candidate used words such as “love”, “patriotism”, union”, “hope”, “diversity” and “freedom” to summarize the celebrations for the bicentenary of Independence organized by the federal government with the participation of the armed forces. “It’s impossible to contain the tears,” said Bolsonaro.

Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)

Jair Bolsonaro's main competitor in the presidential race and first placed in the polls avoided strong reactions to the events of this September 7th. In the morning, Lula criticized the lack of “unity” and “love” for the country on the commemorative date, in a criticism accompanied by a “good morning”:

Ciro Gomes (PDT)

The candidate took to Twitter 10 times to express himself on September 7th. In one of them, Ciro calls on his followers to follow the live swing he would make on your channel, Ciro TV. The death of artist Emanoel Araújo was also remembered by the presidential candidate, who offered his condolences to his friends and family.

Simone Tebet (MDB)

"It is necessary to change president”
