According to the Ministry of Health, 1,8% of the population donates blood regularly. This number is slightly below the ideal 2% defined by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), but well behind the 5% recorded in European countries.

Constant donations are essential for supplying platelet stocks, which help control bleeding and are used in the treatment of various diseases, such as cancer, for example.
Who can donate?
People aged between 16 and 69, the first donation must be made by the age of 60. Minors under 18 can only donate with the authorization of their legal guardians.
And attention ⚠️: Every donor must present an original document with photo and be in good health, in addition to weighing more than 50kg.
