In relation to the place of occurrence, the majority (54%) occurred in the residences where the animals live.

The ISP decided to release the data today (14), to integrate the actions around the National Animal Day. The date helps to remember the importance of caring for animals (domestic, wild or exotic) and combating any type of violence against them. To this end, it focuses on information and prevention campaigns.

“Disclosing this data on National Animal Day is important to raise awareness in society and show that mistreatment and cruelty against animals is a crime and can lead to imprisonment. The crime of mistreatment is typified in the Environmental Crimes Law and, in the case of dogs and cats, the penalty provides, in addition to the loss of custody of the pet, up to five years in prison”, says Marcela Ortiz, CEO of the ISP.
