No speech that opened the UN General Assembly, the President of the Republic made references to his government, introducing the speech with criticism, without name mention, of the PT and former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, leader in most polls of voting intentions in the presidential race. He also praised agribusiness and treated the country as a “reference” for sustainability and environmental protection.

Some of the lines in the speech pointed to corruption, the environment, emergency aid and September 7th. As part of the candidate's strategy to win over female voters, Bolsonaro cited his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro.

Corruption
The president said that: “In my government, we eradicated the systemic corruption that existed in the country.” According to Lupa, the president's speech is FALSE.
“The Bolsonaro government is the target of several accusations of corruption. In 2022, there was the episode of the parallel cabinet within the Ministry of Education and accusations of bribery related to the purchase of vaccines by the government”, informs Lupa.
Emergency Aid
President Jair Bolsonaro said that under his government “more than 68 million people” benefited from emergency aid. In this case, according to Lupa, the president's speech is TRUE.

In 2020, the federal government paid Emergency Aid to 68,2 million people, according to the Transparency Portal. In 2021, however, the number of people who received this help fell by 46,6%, totaling 36,4 million, reports Lupa.
Emergency aid and Women
Speaking about violence against women, Bolsonaro cited his government's measures and said that this is one of the main points of his Presidency. “We combat violence against women with all rigor... the results appear in our government.” The president said that more than 70 projects were created for women, but according to Lupa the information was EXAGGERATED.
Bolsonaro's government sanctioned 40 laws specifically aimed at women, not 70. None of the bills sanctioned were initiated by the Presidency.

Regarding those benefiting from emergency aid, Bolsonaro spoke to TRUTH.
In relation to feminicide, the Lupa agency reports that the statement that the current government reduced 7,7% of cases is a LIE.
During the Bolsonaro government, there was a 9,1% increase in cases of femicide in Brazil. Data from the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook show that, in 2018, the last year of Michel Temer's administration, there were 1.229 records of this crime in the country. In 2021, the number rose to 1.341.
