Documents presented by Damares Alves do not prove sexual abuse against children

Estadão analyzed the content of the more than two thousand pages of reports provided by Damares Alves's office as proof of the complaint and found no evidence of alleged child sex trafficking on Marajó Island. This Thursday (13), the former minister stated that the accusations were based on conversations she had with people on the street.

The Public Ministry of Pará itself demanded clarifications, just as the Federal Attorney's Office for Citizens' Rights (PFDC) determined that the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights inform in detail all cases of complaints received by the department between 2016 and 2022 that involve child trafficking and rape of vulnerable people.

“I'm not denouncing, I'm bringing to light what was already reported,” she said. “This is all said on the streets of Marajó. In border areas, we hear absurd things about the trafficking of women and children,” he said. View All in an interview with Rádio Bandeirantes.

When asked about the veracity of the allegations, View All stated that the cases are already known to the Public Ministry of Pará and the population of the State. According to the former minister, she cannot reveal other information to avoid exposing the victims.

When asked if she would forward such documents to the Public Ministry of Pará, she reiterated: “I just want to remember that the minister does not have access to things that reach the ombudsman's office. The ombudsman forwards it directly to the Public Ministry, because it is confidential data. What I talk about in my video are the conversations I have with people on the street. I do not have access to the data, they are confidential, but no complaint that reached the ombudsman was not forwarded”.
