Prince Harry's interviews about memoir 'Spare' resonate on the eve of launch

In recent weeks, Prince Harry has given interviews to promote 'Spare', his memoir, which will be released this Tuesday (10). He told television station ITV that he decided to publish the controversial memoir to defend himself after years of leaks about his life in the British tabloids.

“During these 38 years, many people have spoken about my life with interest. This made me think that the time had come to explain my own story”, he said during the interview, broadcast a few days after the controversy caused by the revelations in his memoirs about his differences with his brother, his sex life and drug use.

O book, full of private details about the family's life, accusations and reproaches, was accidentally put on sale for a few hours last Thursday (5) by a chain of Spanish bookstores, which allowed the British tabloids to acquire a copy. The worldwide release of 'Save' is scheduled for January 10th.

Among the leaked details are:

  • Accusation that his brother, Prince William, attacked him during an argument about his wife, former American actress Meghan Markle;
  • Account of how she lost her virginity;
  • Confession about drug use;
  • Claim that he killed 25 people on a military mission in Afghanistan.

For ITV, the Prince Harry denied having accused british royal family of racism during an interview with American television in March 2021. At the time, one of his family members reportedly expressed concern about what skin color the prince's children with Meghan would have.

In addition to the interview with ITV, Prince Harry also spoke to CBS's 60 Minutes program and ABC. All interviews were recorded before the book's contents were leaked.
