'Hope' is chosen as the word of the year for 2022 by Brazilians

In 2021, the word of the year was “vaccine”, due to advances in vaccination against Covid-19.

“The victory of the word 'hope' happened narrowly, and this helps to explain the Brazilian's vision regarding the year that is ending. Second place, 'disappointment', completes the photo of this polarized period in Brazil's history. It is indisputable: the political division even reached the choice of the Word of the Year”, commented Leandro Machado, partner at Causesystem. (G1)

A group of experts selected 8 words that would best describe the year 2022. The survey interviewed 1.200 interviewees, by telephone, between November 04th and 09th. The margin of error is up to 3 percentage points, plus or minus.

Other words were mentioned to make up this year's list: confusion, overcoming, polarization, democracy, relief, division, Amazon and complexity.
