The path to the Reykjavik volcano takes hours and those who venture out have to go through steep trails. Those responsible for tourism on the island say that around 23 people have already come to see the eruption in the Meradalir valley, around 40 kilometers from the Icelandic capital.

According to the meteorological service, the volcano erupted on August 3 and, since then, the situation has remained stable.

“We've been here for three or four hours and we don't get bored, it's changing all the time,” explains Jean-Paul Couturier, a French retiree on vacation in Iceland.
To access the newly formed crater you have to walk 14 kilometers over difficult terrain, with an elevation gain of 300 meters. The route takes two hours.
