Flamengo beats Vélez on Pedro's night and is close to the Libertadores final

Flamengo had a perfect night this Wednesday, in Buenos Aires, at the José Amalfitani Stadium, where Pedro shone and scored three goals to build a 4-0 victory over Vélez Sarsfield, in a game valid for the first round of the semifinals of the Liberators cup. The other goal of the peaceful triumph on Argentine soil was scored by Everton Ribeiro. Does no one hold Mengão anymore?

What night! The team led by Dorival Júnior remains undefeated in the continental tournament, very close to securing a place in the final. The reunion with Vélez will be next Wednesday, at Maracanã, and the Argentine team will need to win by four goals to take the decision to penalties. To advance directly, you will have to seek an advantage of five or more goals.

The tight-knit Flemish attack encountered an out-of-touch defense and left it increasingly lost over time. Vélez made a lot of mistakes from the start, from passing the ball to marking, and allowed the visitors to feel very comfortable. In the offensive sector, the Argentine team missed young midfielder Máximo Perrone, one of their great highlights of the season, and gave the red and black team little trouble.

In the first good attack by the home team, Santos blocked a dangerous shot from Janson. Shortly afterwards, in the 31st minute, Flamengo responded by opening the scoring with Pedro, who appeared free in the area, taking advantage of Vélez's new defensive failure, and deflected a good cross made by defender Léo Pereira.

The draw almost came later, when Orellano took a free kick and hit the post, but the Flamengo fans didn't let their opponents get excited about the move. At 45, Gabigol received the ball from João Gomes inside the area and made a beautiful first pass for Everton Ribeiro to score the second goal.

Brazilian dominance continued in the second half. Well organized in midfield, with good performances from the midfielders Thiago Maia and João Gomes, Flamengo didn't let Vélez get too close to their area and managed to quickly reach the attacking field. At 15, Pedro scored another, at the end of a beautiful play, touching over Hoyos after receiving a through ball from Gabigol, the waiter of the night

Nervous and shaken, the Argentine team felt the atmosphere of tension generated among the fans and was crushed by the opponent, who did not stop looking for the attack even with the good advantage built. Therefore, Flamengo reached the fourth goal, also scored by Pedro, in a move in which he kept the ball after a deflection and put it in the net.
