Heroes of the past inspire Brazilian team in the World Cup

This Saturday (19), journalists from around the world visited the home of the Brazilian World Cup team, the Grand Hamad stadium, in Doha. The corridor that leads to the field is full of images of memorable moments from Brazil's five World Cup victories. Former player Zinho, four-time world champion, also participated in the tour and was moved by the memories. Come with us.

The image of his teammates celebrating the 1994 World Cup title in the United States brings former midfielder and now commentator Zinho to tears. Holder of that cup, which gave the team four wins, he stops in front of the photo in which striker Bebeto embraces goalkeeper Taffarel at the end of the penalty shootout against Italy in the final. In addition to this image, others recall titles from 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002.

“It's a very emotional moment, because I go back to my time as a player and my preparation for the World Cup. And here is 94, the tetra, my name is marked in the Brazilian team, in the history of football. Knowing that these athletes will arrive shortly and see these images is exciting, it’s a motivation for them”, says the player.

The home of the local club Al-Arabi will be the training ground for Brazil, which debuts in the World Cup next Thursday against Serbia, in Group G. “Tite has put together a very strong group, the moment of the Brazilian players is good, playing well at their clubs”, says Zinho. For him, Tite has a good squad, with options to make a good variation to win his sixth world title.

Motivational phrases

On the walls of the training center, Al-Arabi's red and white gave way to green and yellow. The club's trophies are displayed alongside images of Brazilian football legends such as Ronaldo 'Fenômeno' and Pelé.

On the walls of the corridor you can also read the phrases that coach Tite usually uses to motivate his players: “Courage”, “Enjoy the moment of confidence”, “Prepare well to deserve to win” and “Mentally strong”, among others.

This Sunday (20) the national team's players will begin training for the World Cup. For Zinho, training, preparation, focus, determination and teamwork are very important, but this complete motivational part. “On the field, it will be a good help to win the sixth star,” he says.

Strong group

Brazil chose the Grand Hamad stadium, in the center of Doha, as its home ground, after visiting 17 venues in Qatar. In it, the changing rooms already have the faces of the 26 players printed on them, separated by niches with mirrors so they can take care of their appearance.

The members of the technical committee and the medical department also have their spaces reserved, in other rooms, with their respective photos.

In addition to a large gym and meeting rooms, there is also a small children's space and leisure areas for the athletes' families and delegation members.
