The Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), one of the indexes that measure inflation in Brazil, fell by 0,36% in August. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released the data this Friday (9). Last month's index was the lowest for August since 1998, that is, in 24 years.

The drop was influenced by the reduction in fuel prices.
In July, the drop was 0,68%. It was the lowest rate since the surveys began in January 1980.
Brazil has recorded deflation 16 times since the Real plan.
