Iran arrests famous actress for supporting women's rights protests

The famous Iranian actress and women's rights activist Taraneh Alidoosti was detained, this Saturday (17), in Iran, in connection with the protest movement that entered its fourth month.

Known for having acted in several films by filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, the actress spoke out on Instagram in support of the demonstrations triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, young woman dead after being arrested by the moral police

According to the Tasnim agency, “Taraneh Alidoosti was detained for her recent actions, publishing false information and content, and for inciting chaos.”

On December 8, the 38-year-old actress denounced the execution of Mohsen Shekari by hanging after he was accused of “war against God”.

“Any international organization that observes this bloodbath without reacting represents a shame for humanity,” she wrote on her Instagram profile.
