Isaquias Queiroz secures gold at Pan-American Canoeing Championships in Canada

Bahian canoeist Isaquias Queiroz won gold this Thursday (11) in the C1 1000 meter category in Halifax, Canada. Brazil also shone in the continental Paracanoe competition: Luís Carlos Cardoo, runner-up in the world last week, won the KL 1 200m title.

“I wasn't as prepared as I was for the World Championships, but I hadn't competed in a Pan-American since 2014, so winning another title is good for the CV”, said Brazilian canoeing star, Isaquias Queiroz.

The athlete said he will “enjoy” this championship a little more. “At the World Cup I was more tense, more serious, more focused. Now it’s time to enjoy it a little more,” he said, when celebrating his return to the C1 500m races.

In the continental Paracanoe competition, Luís Carlos Cardoo, world runner-up last week, won the KL 1 200m title.

Igor Tofalini and Fernando Rufino also had reason to celebrate: they repeated the gold and silver double in the VL2M 200m, last week, at the World Championships.
