Player Daniel Alves is detained in Spain

This Friday (19), Brazilian football player Dani Alves was arrested in Barcelona, ​​after voluntarily presenting himself to a police station to answer for an alleged sexual assault.

“He is detained” and it is being transferred to the courts so that a statement can be made about this alleged sexual assault against a woman in a Barcelona nightclub at the end of December, detailed a source from the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan police.

The former FC Barcelona player responded to a police summons and went to the Les Corts police station, located near the Camp Nou stadium, and was subsequently detained, the police source added.

On January 2, the Catalan police received a complaint from a woman who said she had suffered unwanted touching from the player, police sources explained to AFP. According to the local press, the events occurred in a nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30th to 31st.

Alves was on vacation in the city, before returning to Pumas, from Mexico, after playing in the World Cup in Qatar with the Brazilian team, defeated in the quarter-finals.

In a message transmitted to the Antena 3 channel, on January 5, Alves denied the facts.

“I don’t know her, I’ve never seen her,” he said of the complainant.

“I would like to deny everything”, he added, confirming that he was at the club, “having fun”, but “without invading other people’s space”.
