Lula proposes the creation of G20 for peace amid the war in Ukraine and talks about countries' responsibility

During a press conference in Abu Dhabi, this Sunday (16), President Lula said that the decision on the war in Ukraine was taken by both countries. The leader also stressed that he defends the creation of a "G20 for peace". Understand.

“When there was the economic crisis in 2008, we quickly created the G20 to try to save the economy. Now it is important to create another G20 to end the war and establish peace”, commented Lula. He also declared that peace is the best way to establish any conversation process.

Since the start of the conflict, Kiev has received weapons and ammunition from several countries. Europe and the United States, in general, became deeply involved in the war. Ukraine was only able to contain the Russian advance due to help from other countries.

“Peace is very difficult. President Putin does not take peace initiatives, Zelensky does not take peace initiatives. Europe and the United States end up contributing to the continuation of this war”, stated Lula.

Global contribution and “G20 for peace”

As statements of the Brazilian leader about the contribution of other countries to the war in Ukraine come shortly after the president defends the end of sending weapons to the Ukrainian country.

Furthermore, the president spoke out saying that the US needed to “stop encouraging war”.

The proposal for a “G20 for peace” is an attempt to mobilize world leaders around the issue and seek solutions to the conflict. However, the situation remains tense and without a clear prospect of resolution.
