Despite not winning the World Cup, Brazil continues to lead the FIFA rankings

Despite the tough elimination in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, the Brazilian team remained at the top of the FIFA rankings, updated this Thursday (22). Argentina, the new three-time world champion, and Morocco, the big surprise of the World Cup, were the highlights of the list.

O Brazil maintained first place, but the difference to Argentina is small: 1.840,77 points against 1.838,38. The Argentines moved up one position compared to the previous ranking, updated in October, after winning their third title in the Qatar Cup, on Sunday (18).

The “podium” also has France, runner-up in this edition’s world championship. The French gained one place, now occupying 3rd place. The one who lost these positions conquered by the Argentines and French was Belgium, one of the disappointments of the Qatar Cup. The Belgians, who fell to 4th place, were eliminated in the group stage.

The target of much praise throughout this World Cup, the English team completes the Top 5 on the list, maintaining its previous position. Right behind are the Netherlands, who fell in the quarterfinals, and Croatia, who finished in 3rd place. The Dutch climbed two positions, while the Croatians jumped from 12th to 7th place.

Outside the World Cup, Italy occupies 8th place, falling two places. The Top 10 also includes Portugal and Spain, other teams that disappointed their fans. The Portuguese, eliminated in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, maintained 9th place. The Spanish, who fell in the round of 7, lost three places and exchanged 10th for XNUMXth place.
