The Ministry of Justice decided this Thursday (1st) that 33 companies suspend the sale of electronic cigarettes immediately. If they do not comply, the daily fine is R$5.
The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union. In justification, the MJ explained that “electronic cigarettes are sold freely, by different types of businesses, such as stores, tobacconists and websites, despite being illegal”.

Electronic cigarettes are also bad for your health
Contrary to what the tobacco industry has been preaching, Electronic cigarettes do not offer any advantages over conventional cigarettes. Bodies of Health and researchers warn of the risk that “vape” smokers are taking.
According to Brazilian Medical Association, Electronic cigarettes act like poison in the body:
- They contain nicotine, a drug that leads to dependency;
- They also contain more than 80 chemical substances, including proven carcinogens;
- Nicotine use increases the risk of thrombosis, stroke, hypertension and myocardial infarction, among others;
- Studies also show that electronic cigarettes increase the user's chances of also smoking regular cigarettes by about three times.
